HERNDON, VA — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) recently released its STARS Safety Program for Green Industry Companies CD-ROM, sponsored by CNA and LaPorte & Associates.

The STARS Safe Company Program assists Green Industry companies in lowering total costs of risk by reducing hazards and injuries.

Participation in the STARS program is free, and the CD-ROM is free to companies who are PLANET members and participating in STARS. The price is $25 for PLANET members not participating in STARS; $50 to participants in STARS who do not yet belong to PLANET; and $75 to companies that are not members of PLANET or participants in STARS.

The CD-ROM includes:

• A comprehensive Company Safety Policy on topics, including motor vehicle safety, preventing back injuries, return-to-work/modified duty programs, chemical safety, reporting and investigating accidents, complying with OSHA, and more
• Guidance to green-industry companies on implementing and further developing the Company Safety Policy, in the form of checklists and tips
• More than 50 ready-to-use forms, sample policies, payroll stuffers, and other safety ideas successfully used by others in the green industry; many of these forms are provided in Spanish
